A Rotary club in a Hampshire market town has been recognised for its community efforts.

Bishop's Waltham Rotary Club was awarded the Mayor of Winchester Community Award on Thursday, March 13, for its contributions both locally and internationally.

The club has a history of supporting various causes, including funding two Shelterboxes to aid families affected by a recent earthquake in Myanmar.

The boxes, which cost more than £500 each, contain a family tent and essential items such as water filters, mosquito nets, and cooking sets.

Last autumn, the Bishop's Waltham Men’s Shed received a wood-turning lathe from the club as a gesture of thanks for helping refurbish the club’s Christmas steam train.

The club also acknowledged Young Carers Action Day on Wednesday, March 12 by providing a large Easter egg to each young carer at Henry Cort Community College.

The club continues to gear up for its much-anticipated Summer Fayre, Dog Show and Motorcade, scheduled for Saturday, June 14.

The day, which starts with a parade of classic and vintage cars and motorbikes, promises a variety of attractions, including live music, inflatables, ice cream, cakes, a grand raffle and a variety of stalls.

The motorcade starts on High Street at midday and finishes at Hoe Road at 12.30pm.

There will also be a children's area with storytelling, Juggling Jake, face painting and glitter tattoos.

The event, which takes place at Hoe Road Recreation Ground, from midday until 5pm, is sponsored by White & Guard and aims to raise funds for the club’s charitable projects.

Entrance fee is £4, and under 16's can enter for free.

The Rotary Club of Bishop’s Waltham is encouraging dog owners to take part in their special Paws in Hoe Road prize rosettes competition on the day.

Categories include Best Puppy, Best Rescue Dog, Most Handsome Dog, Prettiest Bitch and Best in Show, among others.

Each class is £3, and entries can be made on the day at 1pm.

More information about the club and its activities can be found on its website.

The Bishop's Waltham Rotary Club remains committed to making a difference in the community and beyond, with every initiative aiming to create a positive impact and foster a sense of community spirit.
