Southern Water has yet to set a date for the end of the A27 roadworks some two weeks on from a burst water main.

Drivers in Bursledon and Swanwick have been facing long tailbacks since the burst.

Work crews had to put in temporary lights as they needed to excavate a large portion of the A27 Bridge Road to find and fix a water main that burst.

The road has since been under temporary traffic lights which has caused delays of more than 30 minutes at times.

Despite attempts by the Echo to ask Southern Water for a date to see these works finished, it has not been able to confirm an expected end date.

A Southern Water spokesperson said: “We have repaired a burst water main at Bridge Road in Bursledon.

“Work is still ongoing to make the area safe before we remove the temporary traffic management.

“We are working as quickly as is safe to complete the work as soon as possible.”
