Winchester Christian Aid representatives lobbied an MP in Parliament.

Peter and Maggie Lippiett from Harestock urged Danny Chambers MP to ensure the UK plays its part in securing a just peace in Israel and Palestine.

The pair were in Parliament on Monday, March 23, as part of a Christian Aid event.

The British Churches' aid agency brought partners from Gaza, the Occupied West Bank, East Jerusalem, and southern Lebanon to speak with MPs about the "desperate situations in which they and theirs are living and dying".

Mr Chambers said: "Like you, I am deeply distressed by the human catastrophe in the region. The displacement of 1.9 million Palestinians, the escalating violence, and the UK Government’s failure to act are deeply concerning.

"We are also deeply concerned for the safety of the Israeli hostages who remain uncounted for and demand their immediate release.

"We cannot risk further humanitarian disaster in the region. Further escalation will not bring security or safety to any civilians. Israel must act within International law and the UK must do everything in its power to push for a diplomatic and political solution."
