A councillor has expressed his anger after vandals targeted the Eling Boardwalk.
David Harrison, who represents Totton South and Marchwood, described the actions as "mindless activity".
He said: "Every generation seems to have a minority of individuals who vandalise property.
"I rather doubt that it gives much joy to those involved.
"It always costs public money and time to rectify.
"Perhaps it is done to provoke a reaction but it is mostly a mindless activity that can’t properly be explained."

He added that he had planned to use the boardwalk for a birdwatching walk on Friday morning for members of the Totton South U3A.
He said: "Of course, it won’t stop us.
"We will take a different route until such time as the council staff can effect repairs.
"If you have any ideas as to who might be responsible, let the police know."
