Two advertising boards have been taken down and could become digital as land on a busy city centre road is set to go up for auction.

Fox and Sons is taking a plot of land on Canute Road to auction on April 15.

Historically, the site has been used for two road fronting advertising boards positioned next to the Canute train crossing.

But planning permission has seen been granted for two illuminated digital displays to go in its place, according to the auction listing web page.

The existing advertising boards have now been taken down, and the land has been given a guide price of £225,000.

Documents submitted via the planning permission portal said: "The proposed display will meet modern requirements and will be capable of displaying 6 advertising campaigns at a time, sequencing every ten seconds.

"As well as removing clutter, this consolidation has additional benefits, such as the reduction in vehicle trips to repost adverts every two weeks, as this can now be done remotely."

Permission was given under the condition that the advertising boards do not display moving images and will not be in operation between 11pm and 6am.
