A large military plane was seen flying low over Eastleigh today.
In a rare sighting, the Royal Air Force Airbus A400M Atlas flew above the borough on its return to RAF Brize Norton this afternoon.
It appeared as though the aircraft was returning to the base following a training exercise to the Channel Islands.
Jason Evans, a member of the Daily Echo Camera Club, shared his picture of the Airbus in the group.
He said: “A treat for the eyes and ears (if you are into aviation) an RAF Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft flying low over Eastleigh.
“I missed it on its outbound flight so was happy it came back the same way. Don't often see them this low here.”

According to the RAF, the impressive aircraft can accommodate as many as 116 fully-equipped troops, vehicles, helicopters - including a Chinook – and mixed loads.
This includes nine aircraft pallets and 54 passengers, or combinations of vehicles, pallets and personnel, up to a payload of 37 tonnes.
The Airbus A400M Atlas replaced the role of the C-130J Hercules, which retired in 2023.
As of last year, the aircraft has been in service for a decade.
