New Forest hotel named among UK's best for stays under £150

Travel experts at The Times released a list of 33 of the best hotels across England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland that cost less than £150 a night.

New Park Manor Hotel on Lyndhurst Road in Brockenhurst has been praised by the paper, who also called the bed and breakfast the "Best Family-Friendly Hotel" in the UK.

The Times' review said: "We all know that family-friendly really means parent-friendly — something New Park Manor has down to a fine art.

"Charles II’s favourite hunting lodge, near Brockenhurst, is a magnet for exhausted parents who quickly become repeat guests, returning with children who treat the place like home from the second they arrive. 

"Children will love it for its indoor and outdoor pools, superb playground and bedtime cookies, but it’s parents, feeling renewed from a stint in the extensive spa, who will be hardest to shut up about this one — need we say more than “two hours of free daily childcare”?"

New Park Manor Hotel boasts its own spa, with a 16-metre indoor pool, and a heated outdoor pool open from May 19 to September.

Adult-only swim times are also offered from 10am to 11am and from 3pm to 4pm daily.

The spa is also home to a sauna, steam room and Somadome, a technology-enabled meditation pod.

The Times' review also praised the hotel's "stylish" rooms, which are "decked out in foresty sage green and autumn-leaf orange with whimsical touches", such as chalkboards, bespoke wallpaper and mushroom-shaped cushions.

The hotel was previously one of King Charles II's favourite hunting lodges, expanding the bed and breakfast's land in 1670 to import a new hard of red deer from France.

New Park Manor Hotel's attentive staff were also praised, and the review noted that bed and breakfast double rooms start at £130, with main meals from £20.
