Fire engines were dispatched from three stations to a blaze involving an industrial drier in a village care home this afternoon. 

Locals said they saw four fire engines on their way to Lincroft Meadow Care Home in Kidlington after the fire broke out in a laundry room.

Oxfordshire Fire and Rescue Service attended at lunchtime with crews from Kidlington, Rewley Road and Slade Park at the scene.

An Oxfordshire fire service spokesman said: “Oxfordshire County Council’s Fire and Rescue Service was called at 12.40pm on March 27, sending fire engines from Kidlington, Rewley Road and Slade Park fire stations to Lincroft Meadow Care Home to a small fire involving an industrial drier in a laundry room.

“A crew used a high pressure hose reel to extinguish the fire, and positive pressure fans to ventilate the property.

"They departed at 1.50pm.”
