A man is alleged to have impersonated a police office and scammed a pensioner out of £6,000.
Officers investigating the scam have today arrested a man in connection with the incident.
On January 14, a man in his 80s was reportedly deceived into withdrawing £6,000 in cash by someone claiming to be a police officer.
The victim was allegedly convinced the money would be kept safe as part of an undercover fraud investigation.

This cash was then handed over to another man at Sainsbury’s car park in Shirley at around 4pm the same day.
After launching an investigation, officers made an arrest on Wednesday, March 26.
A 33-year-old man from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of fraud by false representation and acquiring, using, or possessing criminal property.
He remains in custody while inquiries continue.
