John Power, the frontman of beloved Britpop band Cast is looking forward to a return to Southampton in what is the band's biggest year ever, featuring their old friends Oasis.

The band are set to support Ocean Colour Scene at Southampton Summer Sessions on Friday June 27, just days before they open for the Gallagher brothers as they reunite on the 19 UK dates of the most talked about concerts in decades.

John, who was also a member of The La's, launched his intimate solo evening with tour at Thornden Hall recently, and will lead the band on their autumn headline tour marking 30 years since the release of debut All Change following what is set to be a spectacular summer.

He's loving the band's renaissance, brought about he believes by a new generation discovering the music of Cast with the release of the most successful album for years in Love is the Call a year ago.

John told the Daily Echo: "We've done a couple of gigs at Engine Rooms most recently and it's always been a great atmosphere. I find Southampton quite raucous, very rock n roll! It's just what we want really.

"I do prefer the outdoor shows, leaning towards a sort of festival vibe whatever the weather. I don't know if it's maybe the open sky above you, but there's a special feel.

"Everything's fallen into place for us and it's going to be a good year. People are coming back to us in their droves and the younger generation are wanting to relive what was the last great era in British music I suppose. I'm definitely feeling all the positivity.

"The Oasis stuff is unbelievable. To see Liam and Noel back on stage together again is going to be something really special.

"It's going to be amazing, an amazing time for Cast. I'm really looking forward to the rest of the year. I'm just surfing the wave of it all!"
