A number of adorable pooches in south Essex are looking for their forever homes - can you help any out?
Adopting a pet is a great way to give them a new home after being left on their own, be it by a previous owner passing away or in some cases being dumped.
The Basildon Dogs Trust branch works hard to care for dogs in distress as well as find a loving family to give them a home if they need it.
If you think you would be able to rehome one, go to the group's website.
Things to Consider Before Adopting a Pet
You can also donate to help them carry on their rescue work.
Basildon Dogs Trust: 5 pets in search of forever homes
Here are five dogs who are looking for their new home.
Lily
Lily (Image: Basildon Dogs Trust) Gender - Female
Age - Five to seven years old
Breed - Staffordshire Bull Terrier Cross
If you want to adopt Lily you can view their full profile here.
Lily is ready to find her forever home and needs a family who love a Bull breed.
She travels well in the car and will hop in unaided, and loves a treat to help with training and loves a Nyla bone, antler and wood chew to chew on.
She will need to be on a lead and always muzzled when out and about.
Lily can live with older teens aged 16 and older and must be the only pet in the home with no visiting children, but wants a quiet family home with a private garden to burn off steam and avoid being overwhelmed.
Eric

Age - Two to five years old
Breed - Lurcher Cross
If you want to adopt Eric you can view their full profile here.
Lurcher Cross Eric is at the Dogs Trust centre through no fault of his own and is currently staying in a foster home.
He is "at his happiest" when he is around people and is looking for a family that can take him on lots of fun adventures.
When at home Eric is always up for a game of fetch and will enjoy playing with his toys, so would thrive in a home with a family that can give him lots of physical and mental stimulation.
He is a playful boy who could possible live with another dog and can live with children 11 and older who are comfortable around high energy bouncy dogs.
Klaus

Age - One to two years old
Breed - Terrier (Bull)

Klaus also came to the Basildon Dog's Trust site through no fault of his own.
While he can be nervous at first, he has been playful with other smaller dogs and can live with other smaller dogs but no other pets.
He is a friendly boy who loves people and does like being out and about so is looking for a family who will take him on lots of fun adventures when he has settled.
He can live with older teens of 14 and older and is looking for his new owners to be around most of the time to begin with and build up alone time slowly as he can howl when being left alone.
Deo

Age - Six to 12 months old
Breed - Beagle
If you want to adopt Deo you can view their full profile here.
This young pup loves a tasty snack which will help as his new family would need to start his basic training again.
Deo loves to sniff so hide and seek and search games would be a favourite pastime for him in his new home.
He can live in a home with children 14 and older and needs to be the only dog in the home, but can socialise with other dogs when out and about.
Deo can be boisterous and is full of energy so an active home is needed to meet his high energy levels and lots of mental stimulation too.

She loves learning new things and knows her basic commands and will sit and give her paw for a super tasty snack.
Sage adores human company but will need to be the only pet in the home and with children 11 and older.
She is however slightly nervous of the vet and being overhandled so she is currently having muzzle training.
