The UK's largest ultra-rapid charging superhub has officially opened in Winchester.
The Winchester superhub, located near the A34 and close to junction 9 of the M3, opened on March 24.
It has 44 ultra-rapid chargers, each capable of delivering up to 160kW of power.
The site has drive-through bays for larger vehicles, extra-long van bays, and dedicated accessible charging spaces.
Delvin Lane, chief executive of InstaVolt, welcomed customers to the new superhub, including Gary Abraham from Winnall, who has been driving an EV for a year, and his partner Jess Wheeler from Harestock.
Mr Abraham said: "I've been tracking the opening for a few months and really pleased to see it's finally here.
"I must say it's fantastic with lots of amenities.
"We haven't got a home charger so we rely on reliable ultra-rapid public chargers and having this InstaVolt site on our doorstep is brilliant - not least we can charge, enjoy a coffee and walk the dog."
The site is InstaVolt’s first superhub to integrate an on-site solar farm and battery storage technology.
The solar farm will feature 870 solar panels and the site will use a mixture of solar energy, battery storage, and renewable grid power to keep chargers running at optimum capacity.
The 4MWh battery storage system allows the site to store and efficiently use renewable energy.
Mr Lane said: "The Winchester superhub isn’t just a charging hub - it’s a flagship site that sets a new standard for ultra-rapid EV charging.
"This site is also a milestone in innovation, marking our first-ever location where we are generating our own renewable energy - pushing the boundaries of sustainability and self-sufficiency in EV charging."
The superhub is designed as the next evolution of the service station, built for the needs of modern EV drivers.
To enhance driver comfort and convenience, the site features a dedicated on-site Starbucks café, offering refreshments.
There are 24/7 toilet facilities, a play park, a dog walking area, and an air and water machine.
State-of-the-art CCTV and security services give drivers peace of mind that they are charging safely.
