The investigation into the death of a 12-day-old baby at a Southampton tower block has now ended, police have confirmed.
Neighbours at Millbrook Towers were left speechless after emergency services were called to the tower block on the morning of Saturday, January 6, 2024, following the sudden death of a baby.
The baby boy, who was born on Christmas Eve, was pronounced dead despite the best efforts of paramedics, including the air ambulance.
A 33-year-old woman and a 24-year-old man from Southampton were previously arrested on suspicion of causing or allowing the death of a child and neglect.
Hampshire Constabulary has now confirmed that the man died while on police bail.
The force referred itself to the IOPC, but the case was passed back to the professional standards department. It concluded there was no further action necessary, a spokesperson said.
No further action will be taken against the woman.
It means police have closed the year-long investigation.
