A motorist was handed a suspended prison sentence after he was found to be more than four times the drink-drive limit.
Jithin Kurian was stopped by police at Glenfield Avenue in Southampton on August 10 2024, city magistrates were told.
The court heard that Kurian, 31, of Osbourne Road in Southampton, was found to have 142 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. The legal limit is 35 microgrammes.
The defendant was jailed for 12 weeks, suspended for 18 months, and banned from driving for 36 months. He was also told to complete 200 hours of unpaid work within 12 months.
Kurian, previously of Bitterne Road West in Southampton, was also told to pay £85 costs and a £154 victim services surcharge.
The defendant also pleaded guilty to driving without a licence at Glenfield Avenue. There was no separate financial penalty, but his driving record was endorsed.
