A gym in Basingstoke has launched a new programme to help people who have had cancer.

Lifestyle Fitness, at Everest Community Academy, has set up the Battle Cancer programme for those who have completed treatment for cancer and are now looking to regain their strength and fitness.

The programme consists of two 60-minute group workouts each week for 12 weeks.

Those who have had cancer often experience fatigue, with a third still struggling with physical limitations after three years.

Lifestyle Fitness plans to help combat this with "structured physical activity".

Heather, 37, who joined the programme after her cancer treatment, said: "I loved the experience, especially getting to know the other people on the programme because we had something immediately in common.

"You build faith in each other, solidarity in completing the workouts together, and build strength and faith in yourself at the same time. Community is everything."

Scott Britton, Battle Cancer co-founder, said: "The Battle Cancer programme has been carefully designed to gradually build strength, fitness and mobility.

"Movements are completely adaptable for any limitation or level of fitness and our fully-qualified coaches are supportive and encouraging."

The programme is open to people of all fitness levels and aims to help them continue improving their health and recovery.
