A fish and chips shop is among the eateries told by hygiene inspectors that major improvement is necessary.
Three businesses in Eastleigh were handed a ‘one’ rating in February following their inspection.
Here is the list:
Davids Fish Bar
The chippy in Winchester Road, Chandler’s Ford was slapped with the ‘one’ rating after a visit from inspectors on February 6.
According to the Food Standards Agency (FSA), the management of food safety is a key area that needs to be improved upon.
Inspectors said: “System or checks need to be in place to ensure that food sold or served is safe to eat.
“There needs to be evidence that staff know about food safety, and the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.”
The takeaway was rated ‘good’ for cleanliness and condition of the building, and for hygienic food handling.
Mavya Bistro
This takeaway and sandwich shop – run from a private address in the borough - was inspected on February 4.

Similarly to Davids Fish Bar, the management of food safety was the main issue discovered by FSA inspectors.
The business was rated ‘good’ for cleanliness and condition of the building, and for hygienic food handling.
Gables Rest Home
The care home in Netley Abbey was inspected on February 11, where inspectors found the management of food safety to be poor.
This brought the home’s rating down to a ‘one’.
However, the home was found to have ‘good’ hygienic food handling and cleanliness.
Each week, the Food Standards Agency (FSA) inspects businesses across the country, assessing hygiene and safety, structural compliance and confidence in management.
Across the UK, every food outlet including convenience stores, restaurants, hospitals and care homes are given a hygiene rating.
What each hygiene rating means:
0 - Urgent improvement necessary
1 - Major improvement necessary
2 - Some improvement necessary
3 - Hygiene standards generally satisfactory
4 - Hygiene standards good
5 - Hygiene standards very good
