A jury in the trial of a man accused of manslaughter has been discharged after they could not reach a verdict.
Fuzel Miah, 44, died in hospital days after he was assaulted in Kent Street, Southampton on May 14 of last year.
Ashley Lear, 36, was standing trial at Southampton Crown Court accused of manslaughter.
Following an eight-day trial and more than nine hours of deliberation, the jury were unable to reach a unanimous or majority verdict.

The judge, Mr Justice Thomas Linden, told jurors: “You have clearly worked hard and the fact you have come to no conclusion is not a reflection of you.
“I would like to express my gratitude to you for your public service and coming to court.”
A new trial date was set for July 14 and will take place at Salisbury Crown Court.
Lear, of Kent Street, Southampton, denies manslaughter.
