Police have stepped up patrols after a suspected arson attack at a pre-school in Eastleigh.

Officers are increasing patrols in the area after the fire broke out at Little Owls Woodland Pre-school on Wednesday night after the blaze broke out.

It destroyed a wooden classroom, furniture, toys and woodland tools.

Following the incident, Police Sergeant Ralph Akehurst, of the neighbourhood policing team, said police would increase patrols in the area as, and conduct a “full and thorough investigation to establish the cause of the fire and anyone who was involved.”

He added: “We understand the impact this incident will have on our community, but we want to reassure you that although this is believed to be an isolated incident there will be increased patrols in the area while our enquiries continue.

"At this stage I would urge anyone with information to come forward and help us identify those responsible."

Hampshire Constabulary has urged anyone with “relevant video footage of the site or dash cam of the road nearby,” to call 101, quoting reference 44250121205.
