A Southampton apprentice has been given a career boost with £250 worth of tools.

Electrical apprentice Jacob Tilleard, 20, was one of four new Aster Group apprentices to receive a selection of new tools and a branded toolbox from Jewson Partnership Solutions.

Jacob, who works with the electrical team in Hampshire, has already gained experience in various areas, including kitchens, bathrooms, and empty homes, where he carries out repairs, testing, and inspections.

He said: "I would like to thank Jewson for supporting my apprenticeship through the donation of these tools.

"They will make it easier for me to carry out my day-to-day work, which will help support my learning to become a qualified electrician."

Helen Schoolar, director of strategic partnerships at Jewson Partnership Solutions, said: "We are delighted to support such a passionate team through their apprentice journey with much-needed tools and equipment that will see them through their careers.

"With the industry facing skills shortage challenges, it's important we encourage people into employment and make their journey a positive experience."

Since the introduction of the apprenticeship levy in 2017, Aster has supported more than 300 colleagues, either by employing new apprentices or upskilling its current team via the levy funding.

Jess Scull, apprenticeship and early careers lead, said: "We extend our heartfelt thanks to Jewson Partnership Solutions for their unwavering support and generosity.

"Their contribution highlights the vital role that industry leaders play in shaping the future workforce.

"This donation will have a lasting impact on our apprentices, empowering them to achieve excellence in their trades."
