A lifeboat crew was diverted from training to investigate what turned out to be a series of floating rose heads.
Calshot RNLI's Atlantic 85 B Class Lifeboat 'Max Walls' was training in the Solent when watchkeepers at Lee-on-the-Solent NCI spotted several small, colourful objects in the water about three cables offshore on Sunday, March 16.
The Coastguard tasked the lifeboat crew to investigate the potential hazard to shipping, believing it could have been a net or cables.

Upon arrival, the crew discovered the floating items were a series of rose heads.
An RNLI spokesperson said: "It was a call with good intent and demonstrated excellent watch-keeping skills by the NCI volunteers.
"Whilst we were on scene, the presence of the big orange lifeboat had drawn a crowd, so the helm and crew decided to stay at the beach for a little time after tasking, whilst lots of children and families had the opportunity for a photo with the crew and boat."
