A Shirley local has gone viral after being caught on video making a cheeky comment to a learner driver.

A post made on the r/LearnerDriverUK Reddit page shared a video with the caption: "Whose grandma is this?"

In a split view, one part of the video showed the interior of the car with the learner driver and instructor, and the other showed the road.

The external view showed the car was stopped on Shirley High Street, close to the Salisbury Arms pub, which Southampton residents recognised as it was shared on the local r/Southampton Reddit page.

Shirley resident makes cheeky remark to learner driver in video

The video shows the car stopped outside the Iceland and Ladbrokes stores on Shirley High Street where an older woman using a walker approaches the car.

As she goes past she says to the learner driver: "I hope you pass your test".

After Debbie and the driver thank the woman she then adds: "Gotta be relaxed, think of something nice like sex," before walking off.

The comment obviously caused a bit of bemusement and laughter, with Debbie eventually saying: "I love that".

Quite a few local residents reacting to the video on Reddit saw the funny side, as one wrote: "Shirley never changes lmao".

Another joked: "I was a little worried when I saw the title that I was going to see myself!

"That's by Shirley precinct too isn't it? It could have been me. Thank god it's not!"
