Residents in an area rocked by a shooting say that the “tight-knit community” will “bounce back” after three were arrested for attempted murder elsewhere in Southampton.
A man in his 30s was left with non-life threating injuries after being shot in the arm on St Marks Road at 10.08pm on March 13.
While some residents told of seeing officers putting up tape at 5am on Friday, police began enforcing a cordon around 10.30pm on Thursday evening, closing St Marks Road, Northbrook Road, Nichols Road and part of Argyle Road.
On Friday, residents of Newtown - where the shooting took place - were left in visible shock when they learnt about the news.

But on Monday, several locals were publicly convinced that that community would come together to "bounce back".
A 32-year-old man walking back with his shopping said that the area “might get a bit of a reputation” but the incident was still “absolutely crazy”.
He said: “The thing is this area can have a bit of a reputation and get a bit of slack and people can sit back and say stuff like this happens around here all the time.
“It’s completely the opposite of the truth. This is such a tight knit community and of course the community will bounce back from this and be stronger than ever.
“I think behind the bad reputation there is so much unity here, so much care for neighbours, you saw the shopkeeper making coffees and teas for the police.
“I feel like there’s togetherness on our streets.”
Police have since left the area.

“You don’t really shake that sort of thing off within a weekend,” he said.
“Someone was shot close to your home.”
He called the incident “really hard to believe” but said he thinks people “just have to crack on and try as hard” as they can to “forget about it”.

Three people were arrested on Sirdar Road in Portswood but have since been released on bail.
A Derby Road resident returning from a work shift said that while the shooting will be a big talking point, “everyone will move on” after a couple of days.
They said: “This is a nice community, sometimes rubbish on the roads but the people who live here are so nice, such good neighbours.”
The resident said that they have a “good relationship and friendship” with neighbours on both sides.
