A PRESCHOOL where children arrive 'keen to start their day' has been rated 'Good' in all areas by Ofsted.
The Lighthouse Preschool & After School Club, which is based in the grounds of the Everest Academy site in Popley, was visited by inspectors on February 3.
In a report published on March 7, Ofsted marked the school as 'Good' across the board, including the preschool's quality of education, behaviour and attitudes, and leadership and management.

Inspectors noted that children follow an 'ambitious curriculum' planned by staff that is 'implemented well, fostering a 'real love for books' at the preschool.
The report also states that leaders and staff 'demonstrate genuine enthusiasm and passion' as they 'warmly greet each child as they happily arrive'.
Children with special educational needs and disabilities are supported 'very well' at the preschool as staff create an 'inclusive environment where all children feel valued and successful', the report notes.
Many children attending the preschool 'do not have an outdoor space at home', the report notes, prompting the school to place a heavy emphasis on 'acquiring additional outdoor resources to support children's physical development'.
Inspectors also reported that staff 'keep parents informed about their children's busy days as well as their recent achievements'.
However, it also notes that parents 'are not always clear about the next steps' in learning.

The report recommends that the preschool 'enhance communication with parents so that they understand how to support their children's progress and learning at home'
Headteacher at the preschool, Clare Vallence, said the school is overjoyed with the comments made in the report, adding: "We are very pleased with the lovely things said about our preschool in the inspection report.
"We are a family-run business, and we are so proud of our whole staff team.
"We count it a great privilege to love the children and care for the families that come to The Lighthouse, including those who come to our afterschool provision for dyslexia assessment and tuition."
