An MP has slammed the rail sector and called for a new railway agency as data showed that thousands of trains were cancelled in just four weeks at Eastleigh station.
Statistics from the Office for Rail and Road revealed that 3,246 trains did not run between January 5 and February 1 this year.
Liz Jarvis MP has spoken out, saying that she is "disgusted" by the numbers and demanding that the government steps in to make passengers become the priority.

The Eastleigh MP has now called upon the Labour Party to establish a new railway agency to "help to join up the industry from track to train", put "commuters first" and hold train companies to account.
Ms Jarvis said: “Passengers must become the priority, which is why Liberal Democrats are continuing to call for a freeze on rail fares, as commuters should not be punished financially for struggling services.
“I am horrified by the poor service passengers have had to put up with, and these statistics highlight how desperate the situation is.
"It is time for the Government to take action by establishing a Railway Agency as quickly as possible to improve services and put passengers at the heart of decision-making.”
