Southampton City Council is currently reviewing several tree preservation applications, with proposals ranging from crown reductions to tree removals.

The applications were validated between March 3 and March 7, 2025, and cover various locations throughout the city.

In Harefield, Mrs. Sam Williams has submitted a request for a whole crown reduction of three meters on a lime tree located at 8 Rutland Court.

This application is currently awaiting a decision.

Another application in the same ward, from Mrs. Nichola Ronaldson, seeks to fell a sweet chestnut tree at 3 Kootenay Avenue.

Moving to Coxford, Mr. Bryan Spencer has proposed reducing the height of a turkey oak tree at 151 Oakwood Drive by approximately three meters and lifting four lower limbs to 25 feet.

This application is also pending a decision.

In Bassett, Mr. Neil Adlam has submitted an annual tree survey for the property at Holmwood Court, which includes a detailed assessment report.

Additionally, Mr. Mark Hill is seeking permission for a whole crown reduction on five sycamore trees at 22 Holly Hill.

The proposal aims to reduce the height of these trees to around 20 meters and address diseased and dead branches.

In Woolston, Shelagh Newton has applied to remove a tree located between garages at 44 Oak Road.

This application falls under the tree conservation area category and is awaiting a decision.

Each application is being reviewed by a case officer, with Gary Claydon-Bone and Mr. Will Taylor handling multiple requests.

The decisions on these applications will be crucial in maintaining the balance between urban development and the preservation of Southampton's green spaces.

Residents interested in these applications can find more details on the Southampton City Council website.

The council encourages community feedback on these proposals as they work to ensure the city's trees are managed responsibly.
