A group of Itchen Sixth Form College musicians are creating an album of original songs to raise funds for hospice Mountbatten Hampshire.
Their project, named More Life, features an array of musical styles and will be performed live on Wednesday, May 7 at The Joiners in St Marys Street.
Alongside their original work, the audience will be treated to renditions of tracks by Amy Winehouse, Lily Allen and Paulo Nutini by three indie bands.
The initiative was spearheaded by student Holly Hopwood, whose grandmother received care at the hospice.

Her positive experience inspired her to give back to the hospice.
Holly said: "Super grateful for all the bands playing for such a good cause, and I hope the performance is a success."
The album is being produced by another student, Antonio Gama.
Antonio said: "Songs are sounding fantastic and I'm looking forward to adding a final polish to the recordings, while learning more about a wide range of music genres."
The album will be available for purchase during their live performance.

All proceeds will be donated to Mountbatten Hampshire, which is a registered charity.
The hospice, based in West End, Southampton, supports more than 1,600 individuals every day across parts of Hampshire through its hospice and at-home care.
It relies heavily on donations for two-thirds of its funding.

Commenting on the students' initiative, the head of music at Itchen Sixth Form, Jack Dale, said: "Project is so exciting because it has been devised by the students and it involves working with Mountbatten, raising some funds for such an important charity."
The initiative is part of Itchen's A Level and vocational courses in music technology, performance and production.
