A popular seafront splash park in Gosport is set to undergo repairs and refurbishment so it is ready to open in the summer.

Stokes Bay Splash Park in Gosport is set to undergo work on its play features and safety surface to ensure it is ready for children to enjoy when it reopens in the summer months.

The park, which is aimed at children aged eight and under, will be given a new safety surface this month as part of the repairs.

The splash park is free to use and is run by Gosport Borough Council.

Families will be able to enjoy the park from 10am to 6pm during the Easter school holidays, with extended hours of 10am to 7pm during the summer holidays.

Featured at the park is water play equipment which operates only in the summer, weather permitting.

Occasional short periods of closure may occur for regular water quality treatment works.

Swings and slides for various ages are available all year round, and pay-and-display parking and toilets are nearby.

Gosport Council leader councillor Peter Chegwyn said: "We are investing in much-needed repairs and a safe new surface so families can enjoy the very popular splash park at Stokes Bay.

"It is expected to be ready to reopen in time for Easter, and the work should make the water features more robust than in previous summers."

The splash park at Lee-on-the-Solent is also set to reopen from 10am to 6pm for the Easter holidays, with extended hours of 10am to 7pm during the summer school holidays.

Lee Splash Park, also designed and managed by Gosport Borough Council as a free outdoor play facility, features traditional year-round play equipment alongside its summer-only water features.

Both parks are set to provide a free activity for families during the warmer months, with the added assurance of safety measures and regular quality checks.

The council has said its work on the parks is part of its ongoing commitment to providing engaging outdoor facilities for the local community.
