An Eastleigh college has applied for retrospective planning permission after installing equipment on site.
Barton Peveril College submitted the application for an air handling plant and related ductwork on the roof of its new school of art and design building.
The original planning permission, granted on March 28, 2023, included a condition that required submitting and getting approval for any plant installation details, including noise emissions and mitigation measures.
The installed equipment, which provides heating and cooling for the building, reportedly does not match the approved planning drawings.

After discussions with the planning officer, a new full planning application was advised to regularise the installation.
The college is in a mostly residential area, near Eastleigh College and Crestwood Community School, and is administered by Eastleigh Borough Council.
The application states: "The rooftop plant is only visible from glimpsed
views from the rear of residential properties to the north of the building."
