A Saints legend is set to take to the decks for a cardiac charity's largest fundraising event yet.

Talisman James Beattie will be behind the music for Heartbeat's inaugural "Heart and Stroll" event, a 5km walk at Southampton Common on June 29.

The event invites anyone aiming to boost their fitness in the new year, or those seeking a family day out, to register and raise funds for the cardiac unit at University Hospital Southampton.

Beattie said in a video posted to Heartbeat's Instagram account that he hopes the Heart and Stroll concept will go national.

"It'll start in Southampton with us, taking part and I think how inclusive it is is how special I think it is," the former Saints striker said.

"Everybody can do it, it's just a great way to get people together and to raise money to a great charity.

"I'll see you there. I will be DJing on the day and there will be loads of other entertainment."

Participants can look forward to a medal at the walk’s conclusion.

Heartbeat raised over £45,000 at its annual Beef and Bid Autumn Ball, which was held at the Leonardo Royal Grand Harbour Hotel on November 9, 2024.
