The following cases were heard at Southampton Magistrates' Court:
BEN ECKERSALL, 27, of Staplehurst Close, Southampton, pleaded guilty to a charge of attempting to drive with drugs in his system after he was caught behind the wheel of a Honda Jazz in Southampton on July 3, 2024 with Benzoylecgonine – the main metabolite of cocaine – in his blood. He also admitted a charge of drug driving after he was caught on Marine Parade, Southampton, on July 3, 2024 with Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol, the main cannabinoid in cannabis, in his blood. He was handed an interim disqualification and will return to the same court on April 11.
ADRIAN GAIER, 32, of Wilton Avenue, Southampton, admitted a charge of drug driving after he was found with cocaine in his blood while driving on Weston Lane on July 19, 2024, and a charge of driving otherwise than in accordance with a licence on the same date and road. He was banned from driving for a year and ordered to pay a £80 fine. He must also pay £20 prosecution costs and a £32 surcharge.
NAWEL HUSSAIN, 28, of Seaward Tower, Gosport, pleaded guilty to a charge of drug driving after he drove a Peugeot on Bitterne Road East in Southampton with Delta-9-tetrahydrocannabinol in his blood on August 10, 2024. He was handed a one year and four month driving ban and slapped with a £500 fine. He must pay £85 prosecution costs and a £200 surcharge.
JOHN O’MALLEY, 37, of Glasgow Road, Strathaven, admitted a charge of failing to provide specimen for analysis in Hampshire on December 21, 2024. He was banned from driving for 30 months and must pay a fine of £1440, £85 prosecution costs and a £576 surcharge.
