Drivers are being warned as a major road in Fair Oak is set to be hit by road works next month.

The busy Mortimers Lane is set to be hit by Hampshire County Council road works in March for crews to undertake crack sealing and road repairs.

These works are set to take place between Tuesday, March 11 and Wednesday, March 19, with a full closure through the days.

As previously reported in the Echo, Mortimers Lane is renowned for speeding which has resulted in a number of crashes.

Councillor for West End and Horton Heath, Cllr Steve Broomfield, has said that works to see any kind of traffic calming measures will not be likely until the summer.

A diversion route has been put in place, which takes drivers onto the B3354, Winchester Road, turning right onto Portsmouth Road.

Motorists should also be aware that Portsmouth Road is shut for works between March 25 and 28 during the hours of 10pm to 5am.
