The new GP services provider for the 6,000-home development, Welborne Garden Village, has been confirmed.

The Living Well Partnership has been appointed by NHS Hampshire and Isle of Wight to provide GP services from a new surgery to be built within Welborne’s village centre.

The GP surgery will be delivered as part of the first construction phase at Welborne, reflecting Buckland Development and Fareham Borough Council’s commitment to delivering infrastructure and early healthcare services.

Before the Welborne GP surgery is constructed and available, nearby Wickham Surgery has agreed to provide GP services for the residents of the first homes, ensuring the availability of primary healthcare from the outset.

"Buckland is committed to providing everyday essential amenities onsite."

Cllr Simon Martin, executive leader of Fareham Borough Council, said: "From the very outset, the council believed that it was essential that healthcare facilities were provided at Welborne to meet the needs of the residents of the 6,000 homes which will be built here.

"The council has worked with the Buckland Group and the NHS for many years to ensure the health facilities are provided, and the announcement that the Living Well Partnership will provide the GP services is very welcome news indeed."

"We are confident in a seamless provision of healthcare services as the village grows."

Dr Chris Sanford, GP partner, Living Well Partnership, said: “We look forward to opening the new GP surgery and serving the Welborne community with high-quality, patient-focused care.”

Ed Kennedy, managing partner, Wickham Surgery, said: "Wickham Surgery is pleased that Welborne will have its own GP surgery and will support the process by caring for the first Welborne residents during the transition.”

Welborne, designed as a new generation garden village for 6,000 homes, integrates energy-efficient homes with extensive green spaces and community infrastructure.

Following the provision of the initial surgery and facilities for a pharmacy in the first construction phase, a larger healthcare facility is planned to be built in the district centre serving Welborne, as the community develops.
