Residents in Sholing are being asked to prepare for a 'temporary disturbance' as a busy road that cuts through the district is set to close.
Southampton City Council has commissioned Balfour Beatty to complete carriageway repairs on Sholing Road on Monday.
Between 8am and 4pm, the road will close between junctions to Wodehouse Road and Manor Road North and a traffic diversion route will be signed.
Balfour Beatty has warned that prior to the start of repairs, the works area may be reserved using no-waiting cones.

Any vehicles parked within these cones may be removed if they block access to works.
Bin collections scheduled for Monday will go ahead on Sholing Road as normal, but contractors have asked residents to speak to people on site if they are expecting any large deliveries.
A spokesperson for Balfour Beatty said: "In the event that repairs are delayed or ahead of schedule, we will alert you of any changes to the construction dates using yellow ‘advance warning’ signs in the area. To minimise disruptions we don’t intend to work during weekends; however should we experience any delays then it may be necessary to work on Saturdays.
"Properties close to the remediation area may experience a temporary disturbance such as flashing lights and reversing sirens, as this can be a noisy process."
