A horror film that was entirely filmed in the Southampton area has been released on one of the world's biggest streaming platforms.
The Tormented, which was shot in Royal Victoria Country Park in Netley, has now been released on Prime Video.
The 84-minute feature film follows a widow and her friends that travel to a sacred land, before horrific visions and living nightmares begin to torment the group with their pasts.
Written and directed by Isaac Lawrence, 25, a filmmaker from Southampton, the movie premiered at Harbour Lights Picturehouse in August 2024.
The turn of the year saw the film reach a worldwide audience after it was released on Amazon Prime, which has more than 13 million subscribers in the UK alone.
“It’s a dream come true,” said Isaac, who was inspired by the Silent Hill game series – which sees the main character lose their daughter in an eerie fictional town – when making the film.
“I’m really proud of the whole team. Everything started out as an idea with a mad bunch of people, and we managed to make it happen.

“It was always our goal to get the film on streaming, but none of us really knew if it was possible.
“The only way to find out was to try, we managed to find an online distributor, we passed their quality control test, and then a few weeks later it was streaming, and we didn’t even know about it straight away.”
The film was produced by Isaac’s producing partner and composer, Hayden Davey, and featured a cast including Gemma Wilks, Sophie Karl, and Neve Campbell Williams.
Isaac is hoping the film’s release on Prime Video will help open more doors into the film world in the future, as he completes work on his next film, Bitter Revenge.
He said: “It’s not easy to get a film on streaming and I know people who have tried and failed.
“You have to really sell your movie, and this was a local production made by friends.
“We’re hoping to release our new film in the coming months and our end goal would be to release that on streaming too.
“I’m really proud of everyone involved and couldn’t be happier.”
