Residents in parts of the New Forest will soon be informed about new waste collection services.

New Forest District Council (NFDC) is notifying residents in Brockenhurst, New Milton, Lymington, and nearby areas about changes to their waste collections.

Starting Monday, February 17, the council will be sending out letters regarding the new services, which are set to begin in June 2025.

These areas fall under phase one of NFDC's new waste and recycling service, which will be introduced in three phases, commencing this summer.

Over the next few weeks, those in the phase one area will receive a letter and leaflet detailing the new waste collection procedures, important dates, and assistance for eligible households.

Residents can also opt to receive regular email updates specific to their phase area by registering at newforest.gov.uk/WasteEmails.

From June 2025, the council will be using wheelie bins for recycling and general waste collections in the phase one areas.

A new weekly food waste collection service will also be launched, using food waste caddies.

These bins and caddies will be distributed to residents in the phase one area between April 14 and June 6, 2025.

Deliveries will be made when residents are not home, with the items being left outside the property.

The council has requested that residents refrain from using the new bins and caddies until the June 2025 start date, and to continue using the current waste collection service until then.

NFDC will inform residents of their specific start date by post a few weeks beforehand.
