ANGRY residents have revealed their concern over Ryanair cancelling more flights from Bournemouth Airport.

The route to the Hungarian capital was initially introduced by the airline in 2023 but Bournemouth Airport has now confirmed that it is set to be axed.

The move comes just days after the airline pulled its flights from Bournemouth to Agadir in Morocco.

Writing on social media, an airport spokesperson said: "Unfortunately the Budapest flight from Bournemouth will no longer run past April 2025 as per the airline's decision."

Two petitions have been started online in an attempt to get the decision overturned, achieving a total of nearly 1,000 signatures.

The petition says: "Unfortunately, they want to cancel these flights. But many of us used it regularly, we mostly flew with full planes. With this petition, I would like to ask Ryanair not to cancel the Bournemouth-Budapest flight.

"For those of us who live here in south-east England, the journey from Bournemouth to Budapest is much better, simpler and more convenient."

A signatory to the petition wrote: "That is the only way family can be connected."

Ryanair has a history of route cancellations due to various factors. In 2022, the airline cancelled eight Budapest routes due to a dispute over an extra profit tax in Hungary.

No official announcement has been made by the airline.

As reported earlier, Ryanair has recently scrapped some of their flights to and from UK airports by 10 percent following Labour’s decision to increase the tax on air travel.

Previously, Ryanair boss Michael O'Leary said the Chancellor should scrap air passenger duty (APD) rather than “waffle on” about Heathrow expansion, which he described as “a dead cat” that would not happen before the 2040s at the earliest.

Mr O’Leary added: “Sadly to date, the Labour government has raised taxes while it rewarded train drivers and junior doctors, but damages economic activity and growth with this APD tax hike.”
