Hannah Waddingham is starring in a new ad campaign for Princess Cruises.
The award-winning actress and musical theatre star will debut the "Love Boat by Hannah" campaign on TV in the UK on Valentine's Day.
The 30-second advert will be broadcast nationwide until March 16, featuring Waddingham singing the iconic theme song from The Love Boat TV series, which aired from 1977 to 1986.
The show’s theme became closely linked with romance and adventure, reflecting the ethos of the Princess Cruises brand.
The campaign will air during peak times on ITV1, ITV Digital, Channel 4, Channel 4 Digital, and Sky Media, in between popular shows like Coronation Street, Dancing on Ice, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire?, and Come Dine with Me.
The launch date on Valentine's Day is aimed at highlighting Princess Cruises' reputation for romance, a title it recently received from Cruise Critic’s 2024 Editor’s Picks.
Waddingham's reinterpretation of the Love Boat theme is intended to honour the TV show's legacy while giving it a modern twist with her unique style.
Eithne Williamson, vice president Princess Cruises UK and Europe, said: "We are so excited to introduce Princess Cruises to an audience who may have never have considered taking a cruise before, but who will most certainly know British icon Hannah Waddingham.
"Her captivating performance in ‘Love Boat by Hannah’ highlights the unique experience of a Princess voyage and inspires people to explore the joys of cruising.
"As Godmother of Sun Princess, Hannah brings her extraordinary talent and infectious energy to The Love Boat’s legacy. Her performance beautifully captures the timeless elegance and spirit of adventure that define the Princess Cruises experience."
In 2024, Hannah Waddingham was named Godmother of Sun Princess, the newest ship in the Princess Cruises fleet.
This honorary role places her in an esteemed list of previous godparents, including Diana, Princess of Wales, Audrey Hepburn, and Sophia Loren.
Her involvement with Princess Cruises is part of the company's tradition of celebrating notable women from around the world.
The new campaign is expected to attract attention due to its nostalgic connection to The Love Boat series and Waddingham's unique vocal talent.
