A 42-year-old man was arrested shortly after a Nintendo Wii, a box of wine and three laptops were stolen from two houses on Thursday night.
Police received a report that between 7pm and 10.30pm, a house on Lodge Road was broken into.
A Wii gaming console, an Amazon Firestick and box of wine was taken.
Shortly after midnight, officers received a second report that a house had been broken into on Gordon Avenue, where three laptops were stolen.
The man ran away when disturbed by the occupants, and police spotted a man matching the suspect's description roughly a twenty minute walk away on Northlands Road.

He was detained and items suspected to have been stolen from Gordon Road and Lodge Road were found.
The 42-year-old from Southampton was arrested on suspicion of burglary and remains in police custody at the current time.
Enquiries into these incidents are ongoing.
