Plans to turn a former motorcycle showroom into a new takeaway restaurant have been withdrawn following initial 'concerns' from Environmental Health.

The old Yamaha Parkroad Motorcycles store in Shirley Road has been a graffitied eye sore for the past four years, but plans were submitted to turn it into a takeaway in November.

Shirley residents were left frustrated, citing issues with parking and extra rubbish as their main woes.

But Environmental Health also expressed 'concerns' with the application in its current form.

A spokesperson for Environmental Health said: "I have looked at the application and I can confirm Environmental Health have concerns with this application, the applicant has failed to provide significant details regarding the extraction system.

"An extract system can be noisy and odorous and no information has been provided by the applicant to show how noise and odour will be limited."

The application has since been withdrawn this week.
