A Southampton artist has put a water company on blast with his latest work - 'rebranding' its logo.

Will Rosie from Portswood created the mosaic, located next to the steps near Cobden Bridge, which shows a 're-imagined' Southern Water logo - where the iconic blue 'waves' are brown, and the central wave is replaced with faeces.

Also known as 'Mr Mosaic', Will said: "When the quality of your product changes, an honest rebrand can be the way forward."

Will adds that piece is intended to call out the company for a decline in the quality of service, particularly in the area around the bridge, which he says can have a noticeable smell.

He said: "For some locals the smell of poo is just horrendous.

"I did it to raise awareness to the fact they are not doing the job people are paying them to do. People used to swim in the river, and now they don't.

"I am not an expert on what is going on down there but these sewage plants never used to smell.

"On some days particularly near Saltmead they can smell it. For the people down there it is horrific, so I thought I would put a mosaic up there representing how they all feel."

When approached by the Echo, Southern Water declined to comment.

This comes as Southern Water bills are set to rise by almost 50 per cent in Hampshire, as confirmed by industry body Water UK

It will see the average yearly Southern Water bill reach £703.

Will is an art lover who started his business – All About Art – in 2007, after sciatica caused him caused him to quit his job as a landscape gardener.

After teaching himself how to design and create mosaics by watching YouTube videos, Will turned his hobby into a dream job.

Will’s work has seen him create mosaics of children’s favourite Mr Men characters, as well as his ‘Mr Saints’ mosaic that he stuck to the wall of Fratton Park, the home of Southampton Football Club’s bitter rivals, Portsmouth.
