A misconduct hearing is underway for a former Metropolitan Police detective who used to live in Southampton and is accused of harassment and domestic abuse towards seven of his former partners.

Detective Constable David Fall – formerly of the Met Police – will answer allegations that he breached standards of professional behaviour at a public hearing in London this week that began yesterday and is due to last for six days.

The former police officer - who was investigated by Hampshire police - is accused of carrying out abuse and harassment between 2014 and 2020 while a member of the force.

It is also alleged that in 2020, Fall’s partner was shown a confidential document related to his work without any proper policing purpose.

In a statement, a spokesperson for the Metropolitan Police said: “The matter and conduct set out above amount to gross misconduct, namely a breach of the standards of professional behaviour that, if proved, are so serious as to justify dismissal.”

Prior to the misconduct allegations the former DC appeared in the 2017 BBC programme The Met: Policing London, where he was the senior investigating officer in a case that saw now 53-year-old, Harjit Singh, arrested for attempted rape after he followed a 35-year-old woman with Down’s Syndrome to her home in 2016.

Fall's alleged mistreatment of his partners was investigated as part of a criminal investigation by Hampshire Constabulary in 2020, however no charges were brought.

In a statement, a spokesperson for Hampshire Constabulary said: “We conducted a criminal investigation into the matters laid out in the misconduct notice and a man was arrested in connection with these.

“A file was sent to the Crown Prosecution Service in 2022, which made the decision that no further action would be taken.

“The details were then passed to the Metropolitan Police Service for their conduct investigation.”

Fall’s misconduct hearing – taking place at Palestra House, London – is due to end on Monday.
