A Hampshire secondary school has been recognised for its "commitment to global learning and cultural exchange."

The Mountbatten School, in Romsey, was awarded the British Council's prestigious International School Award for its efforts to bring the world into the classroom.

The award, now in its 25th year, celebrates schools that excel in global education.

Caroline Nokes MP accepted the certificate on behalf of The Mountbatten School and presented it to the school on Friday, January 31.

Ms Nokes said: "I am delighted to present The Mountbatten School with this well-deserved award.

"Their commitment to global learning and cultural exchange enriches the education of every student, equipping them with the skills and perspectives needed to thrive in an interconnected world.

Christopher Cox, interim headteacher at The Mountbatten School, added: "This recognition is a testament to the dedication and hard work of my colleagues, who continually enrich our students' education with a valuable international dimension."

Scott McDonald, chief executive of the British Council, said: "The school has earned this prestigious award through its inspirational international work and links with schools abroad."
