A man has admitted having animal pornography and making indecent images of children over a period spanning five years.

Kevin McConnell admitted twoc charges of making an indecent photo of a child – category A and category B – between February 19, 2019, and February 7, 2024.

The 40-year-old of Netley Firs Road, Hedge End, admitted possessing eight extreme pornographic images showing a person having intercourse with a live animal between the same dates.

He admitted attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child, intentionally attempting to cause a child aged 12 to look at an image of a person engaging in sexual activity in January last year, and admitted a charge of attempting to engage in sexual communication with a child between January and March of 2020.

He will appear before Southampton Crown Court on February 11 to be sentenced.

The maximum sentence for possession of category A photographs is three years’ custody, while the maximum for category B photographs is 18 months’ custody.

For possession of category C images, the maximum sentence is 26 weeks’ custody.
