Party plans are being drawn up as one of the South’s favourite choirs prepares to celebrate a major birthday.

Romsey Male Voice Choir marks its 30th year in 2025 and members are gearing up for big celebrations.

The 60-strong choir will be performing at Romsey Abbey on October 11 to mark the birthday.

A special repertoire is being prepared to reflect 30 years of entertaining and raising funds for charity through concerts at home, nationally and abroad.

The choir was launched in 1995 by Keith Lawrenson and John Taylor. Keith, the former chairman of the Budleigh Salterton Male Voice Choir, had moved to Romsey from Devon and wanted to continue his singing.

Keith is now president of Romsey MVC and at the centre of exciting plans for another memorable evening at the Abbey.

He said: “It is marvellous to see how the choir has grown over the years and enhanced its musical performance and popularity. It's more than a choir, but a family providing friendship, camaraderie and support to its members."

The choir has raised many thousands of pounds for local and national charities.
