A treat-loving older cat is desperate to find her forever home after spending nine months at an animal rescue centre.

“Confident” Poppy, eight, has been a resident at St Francis Animal Welfare since April of last year.

She is currently the longest stay resident at the Fair Oak shelter and is often overlooked because of her age but has “so much to offer to her new home”.

Staff and volunteers at the shelter described Poppy as a cat who loves to play and enjoys affection and will be affectionate on her own terms.

A spokesperson said: “Her perfect home would be a quieter one with an experienced cat owner with no children at home.

“She would benefit from being the only pet also in order that the focus can be on her.

“The icing on the cake for Poppy would be a large garden to explore in a semi-rural/rural area, that is once she has settled in.

“Poppy loves her treats and is often found greeting visitors on the off chance of a Dreamies or two.

“You would need to keep an eye on this though as like many of us, she could afford to lose a little weight.

“If you think you could offer a loving home to Poppy, then please get in touch with St Francis to discuss the opportunity further.”
