Forestry England has opened a private woodland to the public.
Home Wood, near Chestnut Avenue, was officially opened by Forestry England with support from Eastleigh and Test Valley Borough Councils.
Joan Clark, Forestry England’s Land Agent in the South of England, said: "We are delighted to be able to open up this woodland for the local community to enjoy.
"This is a significant investment in the future of the woodland, which provides access for walking, a vital home for wildlife and a place to grow sustainable timber. It was lovely to meet local people at the opening and hear just how positive they are about being able to access this green space.”
The Chestnut Trail, a one-mile path for walking and running, is now accessible to residents. It is suitable for buggies and mobility vehicles, with a boardwalk section for wetter areas.
Forestry England's craftspeople have also been enhancing wildlife habitats by managing vegetation and planting various trees.
