Dame Caroline Dinenage and local councillors have rallied to save Stubbington Study Centre from closure.
On Friday, January 24, the site was earmarked by Hampshire County Council for possible repurposing into a specialist secure welfare children's home, sparking public outcry.
Dame Caroline along with Fareham Borough Council councillors Steve Dugan, Pal Hayre, Kay Mandry, and Jacquie Needham visited the centre, which is popular with schoolchildren.

Speaking at the site, Caroline said: "I have been meeting with the Local Councillors to discuss our concerns about Hampshire County Council’s plan to shut this site which is so well used and well-loved by local people. I have had so much correspondence from people who are so concerned about the plans."
Dame Caroline has written to the council querying whether other sites were considered for the home and whether the original land gift had conditions.
She also raised concerns about the exclusion of many locals from the consultation process.
