A Southampton teacher who appeared on BBC’s The Traitors has been given the boot in the final week of the series and described his time as a ‘wild ride’.

Despite being one of the quieter characters in early episodes of season three, 38-year-old English teacher from Southampton, Joe Scott, became an important voice in the group as the show went on.

In episode 10 of the series, Joe finally got the dreaded letter stating that his time had come and he was to be murdered by the Traitors.

Writing on Instagram, Joe said: “I always said I'd hate to get the dreaded junk mail and be murdered, but that final meal in the castle was the perfect way to say goodbye.

“What a wild ride - I may have been opinionated many times at that round table, but the aim of the game was to catch those Traitors.

“I admired and respected every one of those players that I was privileged to play the game with.

“And at the end of the day... it was just that - a game. A deliciously delightful one.

“Thanks for all the love and support.”

In episode three and four, Joe became a leading voice at the roundtable by voting for 33-year-old doctor Kasim – a decision that backfired when Kas turned out to be one of the faithful.

Joe has since expressed his remorse at targeting Kas, even going as far as saying he felt he owed the nation a public apology on an episode of the Traitors Uncloaked podcast.

After the drama with fellow faithful Kasim, Joe was uncharacteristically reserved, even joking during a tense round table meeting that he "had nothing to say for once".

The show puts 25 contestants together and has host Claudia Winkleman secretly pick three individuals to be the traitors.

Also leaving the show in episode 10 was the bookies’ early favourite to win the series, 29-year-old call centre manager, Minah, thanks to a betrayal by her fellow Traitor, Charlotte.
