Traffic cleared

Traffic has now cleared eastbound on the M27 after the earlier incident with a vehicle fire.

National Highways' traffic map confirm that three lanes out of the four heading eastbound between Junction 8 and 9 on the M27 are closed.

This is due to a vehicle fire, which is causing 10 minute delays.

National Highways said: "The event is expected to clear between 21:15 and 21:30 on 22 January 2025.

"Normal traffic conditions are expected between 22:15 and 22:30 on 22 January 2025."

Google Maps’ traffic view shows the affected area in dark red - suggesting heavy queues and delays.

AA Traffic Maps reports a delay of 15 minutes eastbound on the M27 as traffic is funnelled through one lane around fire services.

National Highways' traffic map reports that traffic conditions are not expected to return to normal until 9pm.

One lane remains open as at least two fire engines contain the incident.
