Eastleigh’s MP has criticised the government for delaying the start of construction on a new Hampshire hospital until at least 2037.
The building, near Junction 7 of the M3, was promised for completion in the early 2030s.
Eastleigh's Liz Jarvis MP said: "Patient safety here in Eastleigh is at risk and we have been desperately let down.
"Eastleigh has now been failed by successive Labour and Conservative Governments and, despite big promises, our health services will now suffer as a result.
"The Health Secretary must immediately publish the impact assessment of what the delays to completing the new hospital will mean for people here in Eastleigh and how much longer we will have to suffer with not fit for purpose local health services."
The MP has also called on the government to release its assessment of the impact the delay would have on patients in Eastleigh.
